OGDEN, UT -- The BYU Cougars tied 1-1 with the Ogden Outlaws in a heated game Friday night at Ogden High School.

BYU seemed to have control of the game early on when Jake Cavanaugh ripped a shot of the goal post in the first minute.

The first goal of the match was scored in the 34th minute when BYU’s Richie Bindrup finished a cross from Brit Osborne.

The game was very physical, with several yellow cards between both teams and one red card issued to BYU.

Both teams had many opportunities to score in the second half, but were unable to do so until the

90th minute when Ogden was awarded a penalty shot on a controvercial handball call by the referee. Ogden’s Matt Broadhead took the kick and placed the ball into the back of the net to tie the game.

BYU (4-1-1) and Ogden (1-3-1) will face each other twice more at BYU and once again in Ogden. The Cougars’ next game is an Open Cup match against California’s Cal Victory on June 12th at 7:30 p.m. at BYU’s South Field. For a full game schedule, visit soccer.byu.edu.
