SALEM, Ore
— After dropping their first two matches of the Premier Development
League season, the Ogden Outlaws finally had enough on Sunday afternoon.
Thanks to a pair of first half goals, Ogden snapped a two-game PDL losing streak by topping the Cascade Surge 3-1 at McCulloch Stadium. “The guys just had a really good desire to play today,” said Ogden coach Mike Hickman Sr. “They worked hard and the tactics just clicked today.” Former Clearfield High School star Dustin Bybee gave Ogden its first lead of the season, converting a 15th minute penalty kick after another Outlaw player was taken down in the box by the Surge goalie. Bybee easily converted the shot to give the Outlaws a 1-0 advantage. |
| In
the 22nd minute, Bybee and Kenny Hickman put together a good series of passes
that culminated with Bybee feeding Will Nova a great ball and Nova put the
ball in the back of the net to give Ogden a 2-0 lead at the intermission.
“We put together some good combinations and moved the ball around the field,” said Hickman. Cascade cut the deficit in half in the 72nd minute of play, but Ogden finished out the game strong and Armin Serdarevic scored in the 89th minute of play to round out the offense. Ogden improved to 1-2-0 in PDL action with the win and is hoping to carry over the momentum of their victory into Friday’s home match against Yakima at Ogden High School at 7 p.m. The Outlaws meeting with the Reds kicks off a fivegame homestand that will see Ogden face all five of its Northwest Division rivals in consecutive games. |
