OGDEN — BYU stayed in first place in the Premier Development League West Region with a 1-0 win over the Ogden Outlaws on Saturday at Ogden High School.
"That three points was huge," BYU coach Chris Watkins said. "Ogden was in second place, so it's like we got six points."
At 5-1, Watkins said his team is still climbing.
"Over the least three years, we've been trying to establish some momentum," he said. "Now we have it."
David Clark scored the game's only goal with a header on a corner kick in the 67th minute.
BYU was playing with a shorter roster than it is used to.
"We're down so far on the depth chart in some positions," Watkins said. "I'm glad we kept the roster at 25 or we'd be in trouble."
Watkins said he was glad to see his team do so well in its short-field tactics.
"I thought we spent too much time on it this week," Watkins said. "This is not a regulation field. It's very narrow."

The Cougars will next play the Abbotsford Rangers on June 9 in Provo.
